Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery Presents Two Local High School Students with Science Scholarship
FORT COLLINS, COLO. – May 1, 2014 – Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery, a full-service practice dedicated to spine and brain surgery, is proud to announce the winners of its 2014 Outstanding Senior Science Student Award, Jaeheon Kim and Jeewoo Lim of Poudre High School.
Each year, Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery receives more than 125 applications from Poudre School District high school seniors seeking a future in science. Due to the quality of applications received, this will be the second year in a row that Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery has awarded two applicants instead of one.
“The scholarship recipient or recipients are determined based on scholastic science achievement as well as an essay that each applicant must write,” said Dr. Donn Turner of Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery. This year, both scholarship recipients that were chosen expressed in their essays a dedication to using their talents in the sciences field to further the public good.
“Over the 25 years that we have been awarding this scholarship we have reviewed hundreds of essays and have been so impressed by not only the academic prowess of our winners but also of their extra curricular activities, such as tutoring other students in sciences, volunteering in our community and participating in sports and music programs,” said Dr. Timothy Wirt. “It is a wonder to us how the students fit so many varied and fulfilling activities into their lives along with their studies.”
Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery offers comprehensive clinical expertise to patients throughout northern Colorado, western Nebraska, Wyoming and western Kansas. The three practicing physicians, Dr. Timothy Wirt, Dr. Donn Turner and Dr. Douglas Beard bring a collective 100 years of medical experience to the practice.
Serving the region since 1978, Front Range Center for Brain & Spine Surgery has established itself as the regional expert in the non-surgical and surgical treatment of spinal and intracranial pathology and treatment of problems concerning the peripheral nerves.
